    I signed up for the Verizon 5G Home Internet service back in December 2023, and in my case, the promotion offered (for 100 mbps download and 10 mbps upload speed) was receiving a Verizon e-card (gift card) in the amount of $50.00 and also an Amazon e-card in the amount of $50.00. I received both e-cards in a timely manner, and easily found out on the Verizon site that the Verizon e-card could be applied to my bill, which was $50.00. Did that. Piece of cake. Free month, yay. *Not sure why you said you could only use your e-card in the amount of $200.00 to buy stuff specifically from Verizon and not apply that to your bill, unless I am missing something here. So far, my service has been acceptable for my Internet needs, except for one recurring problem. I do a speed test randomly, and sometimes, a few times a month, I notice that my download speed has been lowered 50% or so but the upload speed is unaffected. Apparently, the 5G 'sugar cube' gateway changes over to the 4G LTE back-up system, which is fine 'n dandy, but does not change back to the 5G service and the expected download speed, unless I unplug the gateway, wait several seconds, plug it back in, and then wait for that glorious steady white light to appear. Added note: I get e-mails from Verizon regarding billing BUT I also keep getting a pre-printed notice in the mail about being unable to text me (which could jeopardize autopay and lose the $10.00 per month discount). Autopay and paperless billing gets auto-toggled off and I have to toggle them back on every month. Very frustrating and annoying for sure. The 5G gateway, since it works on the Verizon celluar service, has it very own cell phone number, and DUH, it can not receive texts. When I try to change that number online to my cell phone number (my cell phone uses Tracfone service that uses Verizon's towers), there is currently no way to do so and Verizon has not been of any help at all (they seem clueless) as to how to rectify the problem.

    We've used a distiller for about 30 years (2 different ones). It takes about 5 to 6 hours to distill. Every couple of months you fill the distiller with white vinegar and let it sit for several hours. Then all the hard deposits clean out easily. I save the used vinegar and use it again a few times. Then I put the well used vinegar to sit in the toilet to clean out calcium deposits. Our water tastes fine. We don't use the charcoal filter. I'm 75 and never been to the ER, never hospitalized, never had surgery, and never have broken a bone.

They only have a limited number of slots and I guess they decided my slot should be given to someone else. Idk how this stuff works. I recently switched from AT&T DSL to the Verizon Home Internet. On the plus side for Verizon, you can take the white box and plug it in anywhere there is a Verizon signal. If you have a second home, a vacation or hunting cabin, a hotel, a vacant rental you're doing work on, or even to your job. Say you're a security guard in a guardshack and there's no Wi-Fi provided, if there's electricity u can bring the Verizon white box, plug it in and ur good to go. You wouldn't do that with a DSL router. I've considered picking up at 12v dc adapter that converts to 110 and plugs into a car's cigarette lighter or charger outlet. With all the warnings about free WiFi like Starbucks or McD's, why not?

    I have to respectfully disagree with you here. DHH has been actively anti-JS/TS for a long time and his actions here are just another example of him acting like a BDFL (Benevolent Dictator For Life). He didn't consult the community or the maintainers one bit and pretty much ignored all of the feedback he received on this, which is a very immature way of maintaining an open source library. It doesn't matter if he created it or not, these days Rails and its various packages have a community of maintainers and contributors, which is why his actions were seen as anti-community and broke the social contract in how such libraries are maintained in a democratic manner. Ie. him not liking TS and forcing this change may be at odds with the other maintainers and contributors, and without providing a reasonable alternative such as JSdoc can definitely be seen as a step backwards. Yes I appreciate what he has contributed to the web dev ecosystem and I do enjoy his hot-takes, but as Rails' popularity and usage continues to decline, this is just another example of how out of touch he is with the community. Rich Harris removed TS from Svelte but engaged with the community to explain why (pain to maintain) and provided an alternative (JSdocs) which still gives end users the same advantages of TS, but makes things much easier for package maintainers.

Also, I have slot of WiFi devices, Alexa Echo's, smart plugs, thermostat, garage door opener, etc etc etc. I can't seem to think I have to change each one individually to the Verizon Modem. I hear I don't have to do this, so I am asking, what is the easy way?

      @WinstonCodesOn 2 місяці тому

      I had that problem with IoT devices too. I went into the router's config and made the Wifi name and password identical to that of my previous router. All the devices switched without me having to change any settings. That is a dramatic drop in speed. Maybe there is too much airwave traffic in your area at that time and the network gets slow. The towers don't have the capacity to handle the data usage. Doesn't seem to be an issue in my location.

      @@AliAhmed-jh1hd Probably also has some built in electronics to better regular the charge and discharge of the battery within it. The status indicator, USB plugs, AC converter, etc.
